Personal, Political & Powerful: Our Black Liberation Month
This February, TKO Society moved with the intentionality that Black liberation is built on the pillars of health equity, radical education, and unapologetic community care.
We honored National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day at Alabama State University for GLAAD’s Generation Z & HIV HBCU Tour, where Executive Director TC Caldwell joined fellow advocates to center Southern solutions.
Our monthly Schoolin’ Life Zoom session gave queer youth and college students a stigma-free space to discuss the intersections of queer youth identity and substance use harm reduction.
As we look ahead, we are reclaiming our communal spaces both digital and physical: the return of our Chat + Chew lunchtime series on Feb. 24 invites you to personalize the political from your own screen; THE BLAQOUT on Feb. 26 celebrates the brilliant constellation of Black queer lives that light our paths; and the March 14 relaunch of DIVA 2 DIVA offers a sanctuary for trans and femme-presenting individuals to celebrate their joy through makeup and wig-making.
From the campus to the community table, TKO knows that liberation is found in how we show up for each other.
